Cyberbullying is a very common type of online harassment that is experienced by women of all ages but is especially prevalent with teens. Temitayo Fagbenle reported, for a segment of NPR’s Radio Rookies and All Things Considered titled “Online ‘Shaming’ a New Level of Cyberbullying for Girls,” that rather than verbally abusing women and girls by gossiping and calling them derogatory names and “using photos and videos to turn a girl’s private life inside outnow “1 ‘slut-shaming’ is now utilizing social media and the internet to spread hate. According to Fagbenle, “people now turn to social media sites to share explicit photos and videos to shame these women and girls among their peers.”2 Click HERE for the full story.
